Forgiving does not mean forgetting. In fact,... But...

Forgiving does not mean forgetting. In fact, there are hurts that constantly torment or follow people throughout their lives. But forgiveness is always inevitable and necessary, as people need to have calm and peace within themselves.

In some way, forgiveness is liberation for both oneself and others. By forgiving, we can live a free life without anger, resentment, or depend on those who have hurt us. At that time, we stopped nagging, blaming or worse, intending revenge or wishing bad things to happen to them. To ensure that there are no more instances of suffering or harm.

It’s important to remember that forgiving is a courageous and strong decision. It’s not cowardice, defeat, submission, or inferiority to others. In other words, humility, sincerity, self-respect, and respect for oneself and others is necessary due to the noble and irrevocable dignity of humans.

The gloating of seeing or feeling the suffering that the person who has hurt us, our loved ones,... or the evil person must endure; It really doesn’t help us find healing and peace.

Let’s give ourselves and others a chance so that things can get better, and at the same time, be wise and charitable so that we don’t have to be hurt like that again and don’t hurt anyone else like the way that we have experienced it and in every way. So, the only thing we can do is to constantly love, have mercy and forgive because we always receive these things from God and others.

The quote from Saint Francis de Sales focuses on being charitable towards those who have hurt us. “Let us practice many acts of kindness and gentle charity toward those we like the least.”, he wrote. Love for our enemies is a part of Christian charity.

As the Gospel narrative says, Jesus Christ taught His apostles, and now He also teaches each of us in the same way, to have charity and compassion with our enemies - both those who have seen us as an enemy and vice versa.

According to the nature of humanity, it is indeed not difficult to treat us kindly, sincerely and charitably to those who have treated us like that. The story will be different only if we still treat people kindly and charitable who we can't live in harmony with, or those who have hurt, slandered, humiliated, bad,... with us.

“God has a purpose for your pain, a reason for your struggle, and a reward for your faithfulness... Trust Him and never give up!”. It's a possibility that you've already heard about this.

No matter what, keep in mind that God loves you. He loves you endlessly.
